Bill Woolsey

Bill Woolsey attended McKinley High School and onward to Indiana University.

In 1952, Helsinki Games, Bill was part of the 4 x 200 meter relay swim team. The American team achieved the Olympic Gold medal for their efforts.

Participating in international competition, Bill's travel with the U.S. Swim team took him to Bermuda in 1953, Mexico in 1954 and Japan in 1955

1954, 55 and 56 Bill dominated the 200m freestyle at the Senior National AAU Outdoor Championships.

In 1956, Melbourne Australia, the American 4 x 200 meter relay team placed second for a silver medal.

At Indiana U, 1956, Bill's continued domination, as he was the Champion of the Big Ten 220, 440 and 1500y freestyle.

1956 and '57 he took both the 220 & 440y. freestyle at the Senior National AAU Indoor Championships. Also during these years, Bill was also the NCAA Champion in the 220 & 440 y. freestyle races.

1959, a Bronze Medal for the 100m Freestyle at the Pan American Games, Chicago, Illinois topped his competitive career as one of Hawaii's best middle distance sprinters!
