After arriving in Hawaii fresh out of Dental School in Michigan, 1965, Harry swam:

• Kaiwi Channel ­ 1967
• 1st Crossing of Alenuihaha Channel (Hawaii to Maui) ­ 1970.
• 1st Crossing (in reverse direction) of Kaiwi Channel (Oahu to Molokai) ­ 1972
• Auau Channel ­ 1987
• Pailolo Channel­ 1989 (Maui to Molokai)
• 1st Crossing (reverse) of Kalohi (Molokai to Lanai) ­ 1989
• Auau Channel ­ 1989
• Auau Channel ­ 1989.
  

Being the 1st (and only) person to cross the Alenuihaha Channel, for being the 1st (and only) person to cross the Kaiwi Channel in the reverse direction, for being the 1st person to cross the Kalohi Channel in the reverse direction, and for having made 8 Hawaiian Island channel crossings.
