AGE GROUP SWIMMING

Mahinameli Reyes continues to perform well at the Maui Age Group Swimming Association meets and improved on one of her state-qualifying times (50 Y Butterfly) at the December 13 meet at the Lahaina Aquatics Center. She also requalified in three other events, the 50 Y Free, 50 Y Backstroke, and the 100 Y Individual Medley. Mahina has eight qualifying times.

Leoho`onani Reyes improved on all four of her events and added a state-qualifying time in the 500 Y Freestyle by cutting 44 seconds from her previous time. That brings here state-qualifying time total to nine.

Lenn Yonemura qualified for the state championships in the 500 Y Freestyle and lowered his time in the 50 Y Free event with a Hawaii AA time. He narrowly missed qualifying in the 400 Y Individual Medley, the final event of the day, with another Hawaii AA time.

Loni Yonemura is just five seconds from a qualifying time in the 500 Y Freestyle event and also swam the 50 Y Freestyle and 200 Y Butterfly events.

Making a return to age group swimming was Michael Manglicmot. Mike earned Hawaii AA times in the 200 Y Butterfly event, the 500 Y Freestyle, the 50 Y Freestyle, and the 400 Y IM.

The Molokai Swim Team will take a break from competition during the holidays but the MHIS Swim Teams will be in action at the Maui Interscholastic League Invitational Meet early in the break. Some of the MHIS team swimmers will also join Maui High School for highly intense trainings twice a day after Christmas Day through New Year's Eve.
