AGE GROUP SWIMMING

Mahinameli Reyes charged into the 10 & under division in the first meet of the long course season. The newest competitor is now a full-fledged member of the 10 & under age group and attained one state qualifying time and three "B" times in the meet.

In addition to qualifying for the state championships in the 100 M Butterfly, Mahinameli is closing in on qualifying times in the 100 M Backstroke, the 100 M Breaststroke, and the 50 M Freestyle. She was fourth in the butterfly event, fifth in the backstroke and freestyle events, and seventh in the breaststroke event. A new set of four events is coming up in the May 10 meet on Maui. Lenn and Loni Yonemura and Leoho`onani Reyes also attained qualifying times in their respective divisions. Lenn qualified for the 100 M Breaststroke (2nd place) and missed a qualifying time in the 1500 M Freestyle by just over seven seconds. It was his first attempt at the metric mile. Lenn also swam the 100 M Butterfly (7th) and 100 M Backstroke (7th).

Loni attained two qualifying times in her current age group (Girls 11-12) but is aiming for qualifying times in the 13-14 division since she will age up just prior to the state championships. She narrowly missed the qualifying standard in the 100 M Freestyle (6th place). Loni also swam the 100 M Backstroke (11th), 100 M Breaststroke (9th), and 100 M Butterfly (4th).

Leoho`onani continues to excel in the breaststroke events and easily qualified for states with a strong performance and third place finish. She also swam the 100 Y Free (14th), 100 Y Backstroke (13th), and 100 Y Butterfly 15th).
